Summary

QatarEnergy LNG is looking for a skilled Project Engineer to oversee the planning, execution, and management of Brownfield modification and retrofit projects across offshore and onshore facilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in oil and gas project engineering, construction oversight, and project lifecycle management, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a strong focus on Safety, Health, Environment (SHE), quality compliance, and operational excellence, with hands-on experience in shutdown projects, SIMOPS, and brownfield engineering execution.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

• Plan, manage, and execute multiple Brownfield retrofit and modification projects per Qatargas Project Management System (QGPMS).
• Support Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Basic Engineering, and EPC phases, ensuring operational and technical requirements are translated into actionable deliverables.
• Develop Project Objective & Strategy (POS), Capital Efficiency, Cost & Schedule Estimates, and Engineering Management Plans.
• Apply Brownfield Project Planning, Risk Engineering, and Interface Management for safe, efficient, and timely project execution.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Support Project SHE strategy and plans, review contractor SHE plans, and participate in safety audits and inspections.
• Monitor and evaluate contractor performance against safety, quality, and operational KPIs, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, and engineering standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Cost & Schedule Management

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost trending analysis, and contingency planning.
• Develop project schedules, analyze critical paths, and identify mitigation plans for risks and uncertainties.
• Monitor cost and schedule performance, initiate corrective actions, and secure timely approvals for additional funding or extensions when required.

Vendor & Contract Management

• Assist in reviewing and approving Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents, including Scope of Work, compensation, and evaluation criteria.
• Manage equipment vendor prequalification and selection, ensuring technical, operational, and SHE compliance.
• Coordinate with contractors and cross-functional teams to resolve project-related material, resource, or engineering issues.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare progress reports, lessons learned, and performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate project documentation in line with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Brownfield project execution, offshore/onshore operations, and SIMOPS.
• Proficiency in project planning, cost control, and schedule management.
• Familiarity with engineering design, QA/QC, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Petroleum preferred).
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in project execution, engineering, or operations within the oil & gas sector.
• Hands-on experience in Brownfield projects, facility upgrades, and debottlenecking operations.
