Key Responsibilities
As an AI/ML Engineer at Optum, you will:
AI Strategy & Architecture
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance AI systems, primarily leveraging Generative AI models (GPT-based).
- Lead development of reusable AI components and frameworks used across multiple teams.
- Ensure accuracy, maintainability, and performance in AI model deployment.
- Collaborate with software leads to integrate AI services into larger software architectures.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of hands-on Python experience for backend development and AI orchestration.
- 2+ years of AI/ML experience, with a focus on Generative AI.
- Proven experience leading complex AI projects and mentoring engineering teams.
- Expertise in AI model design, architecture, and deployment at scale.
- Experience with RAG, Agentic AI, or similar advanced AI paradigms.
- Strong communication skills to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of additional AI/ML frameworks and data engineering pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for AI deployment.
- Familiarity with .NET for backend integration, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
