Responsibilities

  • Develop and Optimize Oilfield Chemical Programs: Lead the execution of chemical programs for asset integrity, flow assurance, production optimization, and water treatment.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify, monitor, and mitigate downside risks (corrosion, scale, hydrates, biological growth) and capture upside opportunities for operational efficiency.
  • Technical Scope & Evaluation: Define chemical requirements for new/replacement chemicals, including safety, environmental, and performance considerations.
  • Field Trials & Validation: Design, execute, and analyze pilot programs and field validation trials, ensuring alignment with operational KPIs and regulatory standards.
  • Supplier Engagement & SME Role: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for oilfield chemicals, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to optimize chemical solutions.
  • Monitoring & Surveillance: Develop and implement chemical monitoring programs to track chemical delivery, performance, and effectiveness across production, water injection, and utilities.
  • Process Improvement & Digitalization: Create and optimize tools, templates, and procedures; support digitalization initiatives for program visualization and cost management.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Mentoring: Steward lessons learned, mentor early-career engineers, and share best practices across global teams.
  • Contract & Program Management: Support planning, budgeting, contract administration, and continuous improvement of chemical management processes.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of industry experience in oilfield chemicals, specialty chemical management, or industrial water treatment.
  • Strong technical expertise in aqueous and hydrocarbon chemistry, including corrosion management, flow assurance, and production enhancement.
  • Experience in monitoring and surveillance of operating assets to maintain asset integrity and production efficiency.
  • Familiarity with chemical injection systems, laboratory testing, and multiple chemical types (corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, wax/asphaltene inhibitors, demulsifiers, DRAs, VRAs, PPDs, foamers, scavengers).

Preferred:

  • Strong initiative, multi-stakeholder management, and collaboration skills in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility to travel internationally and support remote sites.
  • Strong business acumen for supply chain, procurement, and contract management.
  • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal).
