Responsibilities

Oilfield Chemical Program Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and optimize global oilfield chemical (OFC) programs for flow assurance, asset integrity, and production/process optimization.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities related to scale, wax, asphaltenes, corrosion, hydrates, emulsions, and scavengers.
  • Lead field validation trials, pilot programs, and chemical lab qualification protocols.

Technical and Operational Expertise

  • Define chemical requirements for new or replacement oilfield chemicals, considering safety, environmental impact, and performance.
  • Support asset engineering, operations, procurement, and project teams in optimizing chemical program solutions.
  • Execute monitoring and surveillance programs for chemical performance and delivery.
  • Contribute to Total System Analysis (TSA) and Chemical Management Team (CMT) activities to enhance asset performance.

Collaboration & Mentoring

  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) and provide guidance to early career engineers.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams to ensure chemical programs align with operational KPIs and regulatory standards.
  • Transfer lessons learned and best practices across global ExxonMobil sites.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of industry experience in Oilfield Chemicals, Specialty Chemical Management, or industrial water treatment.
  • Strong knowledge of aqueous and hydrocarbon chemistry/physics with applications in corrosion management, flow assurance, production enhancement, and water treatment.
  • Familiarity with chemical injection systems, monitoring tools, and lab methods.
  • Experience with multiple oilfield chemicals including corrosion inhibitors, biocides, scale inhibitors, paraffin inhibitors, demulsifiers, drag reducing agents, pour point depressants, scavengers, and anti-foamers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work afternoon shifts and travel internationally as required.
  • Business acumen for contract, procurement, supply chain, and cost optimization.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers in oilfield chemical applications.
