Summary

ExxonMobil is hiring an experienced Design Lead – Plant Modifications to manage small-scale brownfield projects at its Bengaluru office. This role focuses on leading engineering design, process safety, and multidisciplinary project execution for global ExxonMobil assets. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of oil & gas experience in upstream, refining, or petrochemical industries, with strong expertise in process design, plant modifications, P&IDs, HAZOP, and project management tools like Aspen HYSYS, HTRI, DNV PHAST, FLACS, and PHA Pro. Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead design and engineering development for a portfolio of small-scale brownfield projects.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering design for site-led projects and ensure alignment with global standards.
  • Deliver engineering packages to site for procurement and construction in collaboration with contractors and site teams.

Project & Process Management

  • Steward Management of Change processes, coordinating with operations and other disciplines.
  • Lead design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, 3D model reviews, and vendor bid evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain design basis, project scope, PFDs, P&IDs, C&E, and control narratives.
  • Track and report project engineering costs and schedules.

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to early-career engineers.
  • Collaborate effectively with contractors, multidisciplinary teams, and operations staff.
  • Ensure compliance with process design and process safety standards.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Oil & Gas design, engineering, or technical services.
  • Proficiency in Aspen HYSYS, HTRI, DNV PHAST, FLACS, Flarenet, Flaresim, PHA Pro, MS Projects.
  • Strong knowledge of process design, plant modifications, safety standards, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in India and willing to travel nationally or internationally.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Upstream, Refining, or Petrochemical projects.
  • Shift flexibility for 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM or 1:30 PM – 10:30 PM IST.
  • Ability to independently lead multidisciplinary small-scale projects and influence contractors.
