Key Responsibilities
As a Caterpillar Quality Engineer, you will:
- Perform audits, inspections, and defect analysis on materials, processes, and products.
- Drive QMS (Quality Management System) implementation and ensure ISO 9000 compliance.
- Conduct measurement systems analysis and maintain detailed quality documentation.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Manage and coordinate quality training programs for employees.
- Support Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and Caterpillar Production System (CPS) initiatives.
- Lead internal audits, management reviews, and certification activities.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing, 5S practices, SAP integration, and zero-defect initiatives.
- Contribute to global quality system improvements including cost of poor quality reduction and PPAP.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9000 standards.
- Hands-on knowledge of engine assembly processes and manufacturing operations.
- Skilled in root cause analysis, process control, and quality tools (CQI, PPAP, scorecards).
- Ability to teach, coach, and influence employees across all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in SAP and advanced computer applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Manufacturing (Tier 1 preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing setup.
- Proven background in audits, certifications, process improvement, and defect analysis.
