Key Responsibilities
As a Manager Manufacturing Engineer at Caterpillar, you will:
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI), including process planning, layout design, tooling, standards, and cost estimation.
- Drive lean implementation and continual improvement in operating methods, systems, and equipment.
- Manage capacity planning, systematic manufacturing execution, and equipment installations.
- Oversee feasibility studies, MBOM preparation, PFD, PFMEA, CP, and MES system execution.
- Lead the installation and commissioning of new machines, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with global manufacturing standards, quality, and safety requirements.
- Mentor, develop, and manage manufacturing personnel.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in design engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and planning.
Skills & Competencies
- Manufacturing Technical Proficiency: Shopfloor layout design, global manufacturing standards, equipment installation, process control documentation.
- Project Management: Proven track record in NPI projects, cost estimation, planning, and execution.
- Lean & Continuous Improvement: Expertise in lean methodologies, productivity enhancement, and cost reduction.
- Digital & Automation: Experience implementing digital manufacturing and automated solutions.
- Decision-Making & Critical Thinking: Ability to assess risks, evaluate alternatives, and make informed decisions.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Strong communication and leadership skills to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering or related field.
- 12+ years of professional experience, with at least 10+ years in manufacturing engineering (assembly).
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, planning systems, facilities, and tooling.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Teamcenter, and application development.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Black Belt training.
- Project Management expertise.
- Experience with MES systems.
- Ability to deliver results in complex manufacturing environments.
