Key Responsibilities
As a Category Buyer at Caterpillar Bangalore, you will:
- Serve as the primary contact for suppliers on global travel and fleet initiatives.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes – RFI/RFP preparation, supplier evaluation, negotiations, and contract execution.
- Develop and implement global and regional category strategies for travel services (air, hotels, ground transportation, TMCs).
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure compliance, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Tax, Finance, BU stakeholders, and Service Owners.
- Oversee contract management, KPI tracking, and spend analysis.
- Promote high standards of business ethics, risk management, and governance.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Procurement & Sourcing: 3+ years of experience in procurement/travel services or as a Travel Manager.
- Negotiation: Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and negotiate complex contracts.
- Category Management: Expertise in supplier relationship management, category strategy, and cost optimization.
- Data Analytics: Ability to analyze spend data, market trends, and performance metrics to guide decisions.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical thinking and ability to manage complex projects with tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Law, or related field.
- Experience in global sourcing and contract management.
- Familiarity with category deliverables, supplier KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
