Responsibilities
As a Hardware Engineer – Safety-Critical Systems (Kavach) at Siemens, you will:
- Design and develop hardware circuits using microcontrollers, microprocessors, and FPGA components.
- Contribute to schematic design, PCB layout support, and design documentation.
- Perform hardware integration, debugging, and testing for railway safety systems.
- Support SIL-4 compliant hardware development aligned with EN safety standards.
- Collaborate with RAMS teams for reliability and safety analysis (FMEA, FTA, MTBF).
- Participate in verification, validation, and environmental testing of hardware systems.
- Work with suppliers on component selection, prototyping, and audits.
- Document design activities and support safety reviews and compliance audits.
Desired Skills & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related fields.
- 3–8 years of hands-on experience in hardware design and PCB development.
- Strong knowledge of microcontrollers, microprocessors, and FPGA-based systems.
- Experience with PCB design tools like Altium, OrCAD, or Mentor Graphics.
- Exposure to safety-critical hardware development and SIL-4 standards (EN 50126/8/9, EN 50129).
- Understanding of RAMS methodologies for reliability and safety.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
- Team player with eagerness to learn and collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
