Key Responsibilities
Emulsion Development & Innovation
- Synthesize VAE emulsions including co- and terpolymers at lab and pilot scales.
- Develop new emulsion formulations based on VAE chemistry to meet product attributes.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of VAM emulsion polymerization, copolymerization, and viscosity management.
- Keep track of global developments, identifying new product ideas for timely commercialization.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide solutions to customer complaints related to VAE emulsions.
- Support manufacturing units for batch corrections and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Conduct thorough technical report writing and maintain knowledge of competitor benchmark products.
Research, Scale-Up & Industry Collaboration
- Manage long-term product pipeline and identify trends in exterior and interior segments.
- Oversee scale-up of emulsions from lab to pilot and shop floor.
- Collaborate with industrial customers for technical support and product evaluation.
- Study relevant patent literature and research from VAE expert companies such as Wacker, Celanese, and Dairen.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in high-pressure emulsion polymerization and copolymer/terpolymer chemistry.
- In-depth understanding of polymer characterization parameters.
- Excellent technical report writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Proven ability in lab-to-pilot scale emulsion synthesis and commercialization.
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on team development and productivity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: PhD in Polymer Chemistry or Polymer Science; postdoctoral experience preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in emulsion polymerization, either in academic research, emulsion suppliers, or organized paint/polymer companies.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with VAM/VAE emulsions, and exposure to companies like Celanese, Wacker, or Dairen. Prior experience in industrial scale-up highly desirable.
