Summary
Chevron is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist in Bengaluru, India to join its Enterprise AI team. This role is key to designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI/ML models that accelerate business value and enable data-driven decision-making across Chevron’s global energy operations. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in data science, machine learning, statistics, and Python programming with domain knowledge in the energy and oil & gas sector, collaborating with cross-functional teams to transform complex data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI/ML models to address complex business challenges in Chevron’s operations.
- Collaborate with AI Technical Managers, data engineers, and petro-technical teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into business workflows.
- Identify opportunities to apply advanced analytics and modeling to enhance decision-making, automate processes, and optimize workflows.
- Perform data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and model validation to ensure accurate insights.
- Establish and maintain model lifecycle management processes for scalable AI solutions.
- Mentor team members in data science techniques, modeling methodologies, and analytics best practices.
- Communicate model results and insights effectively to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Drive innovation in AI/ML technologies to improve Chevron’s capabilities in data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate across functions and geographies, aligning with team goals and promoting diverse perspectives.
Required Skills
- Expertise in machine learning, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics.
- Proficiency in Python programming and experience with cloud AI/ML services (Azure ML, Databricks preferred).
- Strong foundation in mathematics, probability, and statistics applied to business and energy sector data.
- Knowledge of oil & gas workflows, including upstream, midstream, or downstream operations.
- Ability to transform complex data into actionable business insights.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Track record of delivering high-quality AI/ML solutions on time in complex business environments.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5–10 years of experience in AI/ML model development and data science.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain models for enterprise-scale business solutions.
- Experience with data cleaning, exploratory analysis, visualization, and model evaluation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a business-focused mindset.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with energy sector or oil & gas data analytics.
- Experience mentoring or leading data science teams.
- Knowledge of Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and cloud-based analytics pipelines.
