Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Service Engineer at Chevron, you will provide hands-on technical support and expertise in hydroprocessing and refining technologies:

  • Deliver technical service to Chevron joint ventures and manufacturing facilities for hydroprocessing units.
  • Lead startup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of new and existing hydroprocessing units worldwide.
  • Advise and mentor colleagues on complex technical issues to enhance organizational capability.
  • Collaborate with technical and commercial teams to solve client challenges and drive business growth.
  • Standardize engineering methods and improve technical tools for process design and operations efficiency.
  • Travel up to 40% for onsite technical support and client engagement.
  • Interpret operational data to monitor catalyst performance, recommend operating guidelines, and estimate remaining catalyst life.
  • Plan and lead plant shutdowns and startups, including catalyst loading, regeneration, and sulfiding consultation.
  • Administer plant performance tests as required and address client operating questions to strengthen customer relationships.
  • Participate in conceptual design studies for licensed unit revamps or debottlenecks.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of hydroprocessing design, operations, kinetics, and data analysis.
  • Ability to provide process troubleshooting and startup support in refinery operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and with external clients.
  • Excellent communication skills to represent Chevron professionally and influence decision-making.
  • Organizational and leadership abilities to plan, schedule, and manage multiple activities and teams.
  • Familiarity with process design tools such as HYSYS, Pro/II, and heat exchanger design software.
  • Understanding of unit operations including heat exchangers, vessels, and distillation columns is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in hydroprocessing, refinery operations, or related chemical engineering roles.
  • Experience with hydroprocessing unit operations, catalyst monitoring, and field support.
  • Knowledge of process simulators and engineering design tools.
  • Preferred: postgraduate qualifications in hydroprocessing or refinery operations.
