Key Responsibilities
As a Chevron Cost Engineer, you will:
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) for project budgeting, cost control, planning, and forecasting.
- Prepare project control plans, cost estimates, and schedules in accordance with the Chevron Cost Engineering Handbook and Capital Projects Management System (CPMS).
- Administer and configure cost control systems ensuring seamless interfaces with accounting and procurement.
- Track project progress, analyze earned value, and report deviations to ensure projects stay within financial targets.
- Prepare monthly cost and schedule status reports for projects.
- Implement Cost Management of Change (CMOC) processes and manage changes for approved budgets.
- Support risk management processes, including evaluating contingencies and establishing contingency drawdown strategies.
- Perform project lookbacks to identify lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cost engineering practices and methodologies.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in cost estimation, project controls, and financial reporting for capital projects.
- Knowledge of refinery, LNG process technologies, and complex process facilities is a plus.
- Strong understanding of capital project execution and project management systems.
- Ability to develop budget forecasts, cost tracking reports, and project dashboards.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and solving project cost issues.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with industry trends, best practices, and planning & scheduling techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a recognized AICTE university.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in cost engineering within refineries, LNG, or complex process facilities.
- Proven track record in cost estimation, budgeting, project controls, and risk management.
- Experience in asset integrity or reliability engineering is preferred.
