Summary

Chevron ENGINE (Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center) in Bengaluru, India, is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join its Projects & Engineering team. In this role, you will lead cost management for capital projects, including estimation, budget development, cost tracking, and financial reporting. As a Chevron Senior Cost Engineer, you will help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while supporting strategic financial planning. Ideal candidates are experienced cost engineers with a strong background in project controls, capital project execution, and risk management within the oil & gas or energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

As a Chevron Senior Cost Engineer, you will:

  • Develop project controls plans, cost estimates, and schedules according to Chevron Cost Engineering Handbook and CPMS standards.
  • Support preparation of documentation for project funding appropriation and business planning.
  • Configure, maintain, and administer cost control systems and ensure integration with accounting and procurement.
  • Track project progress, earned value, and deviations; deliver detailed project performance analysis.
  • Prepare monthly cost and schedule status reports for projects.
  • Implement and manage the Cost Management of Change (CMOC) process.
  • Manage project changes for approved budgets and update cost forecasts accordingly.
  • Participate in cost and schedule assurance processes and risk management assessments.
  • Evaluate contingencies through risk analysis to develop effective contingency drawdown strategies.
  • Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) for budgeting, cost control, planning, and forecasting.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Extensive experience in cost estimation, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, progress assessment, and forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of capital project execution, project planning, and risk management.
  • Proficient in project controls systems, MS Excel, and cost reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and process-driven skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and proactively identify issues with solutions.
  • Broad knowledge of industry trends, cost engineering best practices, and project planning standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Engineering or related field from a recognized (AICTE) university.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cost engineering for capital projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project controls, cost tracking, and financial reporting for large-scale projects.
  • Experience in evaluating risks, contingencies, and cost assurance practices.
