Chevron ENGINE (Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center) in Bengaluru, India, is seeking an experienced Estimator – Mechanical to join its Projects & Engineering team. As a key contributor to Chevron’s capital projects, the Estimator will lead the development of cost estimates, provide assurance, and support budgeting and financial planning activities across upstream and downstream projects. Key Responsibilities
As a Chevron Estimator – Mechanical, you will:
- Develop Project Cost Estimates and Basis of Estimate (BoE) aligned with Chevron Project Management System (CPMS) standards.
- Analyze cost estimates to identify gaps, opportunities, risks, and challenge contractor estimates.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to refine estimated costs for materials, labor, and indirect expenses.
- Lead development and maintenance of Estimate Plans across project phases.
- Support Cost Estimate Assurance Review engagements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct cost estimate coordination and oversight of contractor estimates.
- Participate in cost and schedule risk assessment to ensure proper contingency planning.
- Develop and maintain cost models in advance of risk assessment engagements.
- Revise Project Cost Estimates and BoE with proper revision control.
- Assist in creating Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) for budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
- Critically review productivity and resource estimates to assess impact on cost and schedule.
- Generate quality cost estimating and budgeting reports for project funding appropriation and business planning.
- Support Project Management of Change (MOC) processes and procedures.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Deep knowledge of estimating standards, processes, and best practices in capital projects.
- Expertise in cost estimating software: ACCE, QUE$TOR, MS Excel.
- Skilled in interpreting project drawings, including P&IDs, PFDs, and BFDs.
- Ability to conduct project walk-downs and assess project costs at various stages.
- Strong understanding of oil & gas industry benchmarks, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for aligning on cost estimates and approvals.
- Proficiency in analyzing and critiquing project cost estimates to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from a recognized (AICTE) university.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in capital project estimating within oil & gas, refinery, or offshore/onshore energy projects.
- Experience in through-phase cost estimate assurance and risk assessment workshops.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, and apply internal and external benchmarking data.
- Familiarity with Chevron Project Management System (CPMS) and estimating standards.
