Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare thoroughly before rig and barge movements to ensure smooth execution.
- Lead rig/barge moves as the hands-on Pilot, coordinating closely with rig management and insurance representatives.
- Ensure all rig moves follow QatarEnergy’s and Rig’s operational procedures to prevent damage to assets.
- Serve as the company’s marine representative during rig moves and offshore marine operations.
- Complete all required documentation and reports post-move accurately and promptly.
- Mentor and train workforce on marine and rig movement best practices.
- Support other marine operations such as offshore inspections, DP operations, and moorings as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven track record with 5+ years conducting rig/barge moves independently, with approximately 100+ moves to fixed structures.
- Extensive knowledge of jack-up rig movement, towing vessel operations, and offshore marine safety protocols.
- Experience as Chief Officer or Master in tanker or towing operations is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with various offshore marine disciplines, including marine inspection, consultancy, DP operations, and pipe-lay support.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
Educational Qualifications
- Valid Unlimited Foreign Going Master Class I (Master Mariner) Certificate of Competency or equivalent (e.g., UK Department of Transport certification).
- Minimum five years’ senior-level experience in rig/barge marine operations.
- Marine safety and offshore certification preferred.
