Key Responsibilities
As a General Instrument Technician at QatarEnergy, you will be responsible for:
- Performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of offshore instrumentation systems.
- Servicing and calibrating a wide range of devices such as:
- Wellhead Control Panels (WHCPs)
- PLCs, F&G and ESD systems
- SCADA and remote telemetry units
- Communication systems
- Automated choke valves
- PSV/RVs and multiphase flow measurement systems
- Maintaining downhole data acquisition systems and flow measurement tools.
- Ensuring maximum equipment uptime through preventive maintenance and timely interventions.
- Collaborating with Operations, HSE, Maintenance, and Facility teams to ensure high safety and performance standards.
- Supporting emergency responses and shutdown inspections as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on instrumentation maintenance experience in oil & gas or petrochemical industries.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Process control systems
- Artificial lift systems
- Variable speed drives (basic level)
- Experience working in offshore environments is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards in oil and gas operations.
Educational Qualifications
- Diploma or technical certificate in Instrumentation for industrial applications.
- Must be issued by a recognized technical/vocational institute or equivalent body.
- Additional certifications in offshore safety, control systems, or hazardous area instrumentation are a plus.
