Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert marine pilotage for all vessel types calling at QatarEnergy-operated ports.
- Navigate vessels safely through approach channels, harbor areas, and offshore Single Point Mooring (SPM) facilities.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime conventions including SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, and relevant local regulations.
- Manage port cargo operations effectively, adhering to port rules, policies, and safety protocols.
- Assess and mitigate occupational hazards associated with port operations and marine pilotage.
- Collaborate closely with port authorities, vessel captains, and QatarEnergy teams to optimize vessel movements and operational safety.
- Lead by example with strong organizational and planning skills, ensuring targets are met without supervision.
- Deliver clear, concise communication both verbally and in writing, meeting QatarEnergy English proficiency Level L5 requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 10 years of sea-going experience as an officer of the watch.
- Minimum 5 years as Chief Officer or Master on large vessels (VLCC, Capesize) or combined experience with 5 years as a marine pilot on all vessel types.
- In-depth knowledge of international and local maritime laws, port regulations, and operational best practices.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and administrative capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced maritime environment.
- Proven ability to communicate and collaborate across organizational levels within QatarEnergy and with external maritime stakeholders.
- Innovative thinker with strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a focused maritime team.
Educational Qualifications
- Master Mariner (FG) Class I certification is mandatory.
- Advanced maritime training and certifications aligned with international standards preferred.
