About the Role: Java Consultant at Deloitte India
Join Deloitte’s Analytics and Information Management team, where you’ll work on transforming data into actionable insights for global enterprises. As a Java Consultant, you will engage in software design, API integrations, mainframe migrations, and multi-technology landscapes to support mission-critical solutions.
You’ll play a key role in bridging legacy technologies with modern engineering approaches in a collaborative, high-performance consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across Java and Golang to build scalable backend solutions.
- Develop and integrate custom APIs, ensuring performance and security.
- Analyze and reverse engineer COBOL code from IBM Z mainframes.
- Interpret and manage XML configurations for vendor products.
- Collaborate with POD leads to design effective, scalable software components.
- Extract, migrate, and modernize legacy systems using discovery tooling.
- Work with SQL databases for querying, reporting, and system integration.
- Participate in agile sprints, conduct code reviews, and implement deployment scripts.
- Troubleshoot production issues and offer effective challenge during design discussions.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Java Development: Solid programming expertise in core Java.
- Golang: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in Golang development.
- API Development: Experience creating and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Legacy Modernization: Comfortable working with COBOL, IBM Z systems, and tooling.
- Polyglot Mindset: Ability to adapt to multiple languages and frameworks as needed.
- Database Skills: Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Reverse Engineering: Experience with code analysis and rewriting legacy systems.
- Problem Solving: Ability to work in ambiguity, offer design insights, and solve complex technical problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.E / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with ISO8583, OSI Layer 4, and other payment system protocols is a plus.
