Responsibilities
As an Applied Scientist II, you will:
- Innovate Writing Assistance Tools: Develop state-of-the-art AI models to enhance writing assistance in Microsoft 365 using cutting-edge Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning technologies.
- Collaborative Research: Partner with applied scientists, engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-impact products that improve user productivity and creativity.
- Advanced Research: Conduct applied research in NLP and publish your findings in top-tier academic journals and conferences.
- Product Application: Bridge the gap between research and product by translating long-term research goals into real-world, data-driven solutions.
- Explore New Ideas: Stay ahead of the curve by keeping up with the latest trends in NLP, deep learning, and AI technologies. Apply these innovations to real-world challenges.
- Ethics & Privacy: Ensure research practices align with ethical guidelines and respect privacy standards when collecting or using data.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of applied science experience, specializing in NLP, machine learning, or predictive analytics.
- Proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals or conferences, and/or holding patents.
Preferred:
- Expertise in NLP frameworks, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and data-driven research techniques.
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
