Summary
Flex is hiring a Technician – Component Engineering in Chennai, India, to support its global manufacturing and engineering operations. This role is ideal for electronics and communication engineers, EEE, mechanical, or component engineering professionals who want to gain hands-on experience in electronic components validation, data management, obsolescence handling, and cross-functional collaboration.
As a Component Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for validating part numbers, analyzing datasheets, coordinating with suppliers/customers, managing global component databases, and supporting engineering/manufacturing teams. Key Responsibilities
As a Technician – Component Engineering, your day-to-day work will include:
- Collecting and validating technical attributes of electronic components.
- Validating manufacturer part numbers (MPNs) and framing complete orderable parts.
- Coordinating with sites/customers to identify alternate electronic components by comparing mandatory attributes.
- Developing project templates based on customer/site requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
- Managing and tracking product configuration and customer/manufacturing requirements.
- Acting as a liaison between program managers, engineering, manufacturing, and materials teams.
- Entering and maintaining component data, vendor information, and approved vendor lists in global databases.
- Creating and maintaining a comprehensive component database for electrical/electronic and indirect materials.
- Reviewing component parameter attributes from datasheets for quality.
- Monitoring End of Life (EOL) components and managing obsolescence.
- Supporting cross-functional teams in implementing product component changes.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Diploma in Electronics & Communication, EEE, Mechanical, or Electronics.
- 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing setup, preferably EMS industry.
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components and technical subjects.
- Excellent analytical, logical reasoning, and communication skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work in night shifts.
Preferred:
- Experience in component database management.
- Knowledge of component obsolescence and alternate sourcing.
