Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Manager – Payroll, you will:
- Manage end-to-end payroll operations for Australia and global geographies, ensuring 100% accuracy and timely delivery
- Lead payroll implementation projects, transitions, and onboarding for new clients or regions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate payroll systems with HR, Finance, and Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to local payroll legislation and international compliance standards
- Handle payroll reconciliations, audits, and variance analysis
- Maintain detailed records for taxation, superannuation, and other statutory components
- Respond to internal and external audits and support process documentation
- Liaise with vendors and internal teams to optimize payroll workflows
Required Skills
- Australia payroll expertise with working knowledge of superannuation, taxation laws, and statutory reporting
- Proven experience in global payroll operations and implementations (APAC, EMEA, or ANZ regions preferred)
- Familiarity with payroll software, HRIS platforms (Workday, SAP, Oracle), and Excel-based calculations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and compliance-focused mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with clients and cross-regional teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, HR, Accounting, or related field
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in payroll operations or implementation
- Prior experience in a shared services or global business services (GBS) environment is highly desirable
- Certification in Payroll Compliance or Australian Taxation is a plus
