Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Manager – SAM, you will:
Software Asset Management (SAM) Ownership
- Lead and manage end-to-end SAM lifecycle across the organization.
- Define, implement, and maintain SAM policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with all software licensing terms and vendor agreements.
ISO/IEC 19770 Alignment
- Conduct SAM maturity assessments based on the ISO 19770 model.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen SAM capabilities.
License Compliance & Optimization
- Perform Effective License Position (ELP) reviews regularly.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to under-licensing or over-licensing.
- Collaborate with procurement and legal teams for entitlement validation and contract management.
SAM Tool Management
- Administer and optimize SAM tools such as Flexera, Snow, and ServiceNow SAM Pro.
- Integrate SAM tools with CMDB, ITSM, and procurement platforms for accurate data and reporting.
- Ensure tools support automated discovery, normalization, and reconciliation.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and present dashboards, reports, and compliance summaries for management.
- Collaborate with IT, procurement, finance, and legal teams to achieve aligned SAM goals.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions on SAM best practices across departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.Tech/B.E.) or related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) or IT Asset Management (ITAM).
- Hands-on experience with Flexera, Snow, or ServiceNow SAM Pro.
- In-depth understanding of software licensing models, compliance, and vendor audits.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 19770 standards and ELP assessments.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in enterprise-level SAM governance and process automation.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Familiarity with Cloud licensing models (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Exposure to cybersecurity and risk management frameworks.
