Summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer – Java, Kafka, SpringBoot, Linux, SQL in Bengaluru, Karnataka to join its Commercial & Investment Bank Equities Technology team. This is a high-impact role focused on designing and developing robust, secure, and resilient derivatives trade management systems. As a technical lead, you will work with Java, Kafka, SpringBoot, Sybase, and cloud technologies to deliver real-time messaging solutions, end-of-day bulk reporting, and integration with Regulatory, Collateral, Accounting, and Settlement systems. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of equity and credit derivatives, Agile methodologies, and cloud-based solutions to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement high-quality, secure software solutions for derivatives trade management systems.
• Execute complex technical troubleshooting and solve problems beyond conventional approaches.
• Develop, review, and maintain production-ready code, ensuring system stability and resiliency.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring issues to improve operational efficiency.
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical applicability.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering knowledge sharing and communities of practice.
• Promote a team culture emphasizing diversity, inclusion, innovation, and collaboration.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience in Java, SpringBoot, Kafka, Linux, and TDD frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
• Proficiency with build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Experience designing and implementing microservices.
• Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes, including services like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EventBridge, and MSK.
• Strong object-oriented design skills, understanding of design patterns, and relational databases (preferably Sybase/SQL).
• Proven ability to deliver solutions in Agile environments, with strong problem-solving skills and a track record of high-quality delivery.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in financial services, especially derivatives trade management.
• Familiarity with equity/credit derivatives products and trading workflows.
• Exposure to AWS cloud services and modern cloud-native application development.
• Knowledge of Common Domain Model (CDM) is a plus.
• Aspiration to deepen expertise in Derivatives domain and technologies.
