About the Role
Dell Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Software Principal Engineer to join the Supportability and Control Path Engineering Team in Pune, India. You’ll play a critical role in modernizing PowerScale, a Gartner Magic Quadrant leader in Unstructured Data Storage and Management, as we re-architect the stack for the GenAI era.
In this role, you will design, build, and optimize Supportability and Control Path solutions for PowerScale’s OneFS software, developing frameworks for Telemetry, Eventing, Statistics, Health Monitoring, Auto-Healing, and API Infrastructure to enhance enterprise-scale performance and customer experience.

What You’ll Do
As a Software Principal Engineer at Dell, you will:
- Design, develop, and deliver enterprise-scale Supportability and Control Path solutions for PowerScale.
- Implement new features in OneFS to improve PowerScale’s supportability and reduce customer issue resolution efforts.
- Build frameworks for telemetry, health checks, auto-healing, and APIs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle to deliver optimized, high-quality solutions.
- Drive company-wide initiatives for modernizing enterprise storage software.
Essential Requirements
- 8–12 years of professional experience building production-grade software solutions.
- Strong expertise in C, C++, and Python (design, coding, debugging).
- Excellent skills in software architecture, testing, debugging, and problem solving.
- In-depth understanding of Linux OS concepts (processes, memory management, threading, contention).
- Experience with Agile Scrum development methodology.
Desirable Requirements
- Familiarity with REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and API development concepts.
- Interest in AI/ML technologies and passion for integrating AI-driven solutions into enterprise products.
