Key Responsibilities
As a Server Operations Consultant at Deloitte, you will:
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers in physical, virtual, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Manage server provisioning, patching, configuration, and security hardening aligned with IT security policies.
- Oversee backup and disaster recovery operations using tools like Veeam, Commvault, and Azure Backup.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address bottlenecks using monitoring solutions such as Nagios, SolarWinds, or Zabbix.
- Collaborate with networking, storage, and application teams to ensure smooth IT service delivery and deployments.
- Respond promptly to incidents, change requests, and maintain ITIL-compliant workflows.
- Maintain thorough system documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and change logs.
- Participate in data center operations, disaster recovery drills, and business continuity planning.
- Ensure adherence to operational policies, SLA commitments, and security standards.
- Provide on-call support and participate in shift rotations as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in server administration and infrastructure operations.
- Proficient with Windows Server versions (2016/2019/2022) and/or Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Experience managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file/print services.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
Core Technical Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Scripting expertise in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.
- Solid understanding of ITIL framework, change management, and ticketing tools (ServiceNow, BMC Remedy).
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, high-availability environments.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder and user interaction.
Preferred Certifications & Skills
- Industry certifications such as MCSA, RHCE, VMware VCP, or Azure Administrator Associate.
- Experience managing cloud-based server environments (Azure VM, AWS EC2, GCP Compute).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible is an added advantage.
- Previous consulting or client-facing experience is desirable for this role.
