Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Transport Modeller, you will:
- Work on highway and multi-modal transport modelling projects for global clients.
- Support all stages of model development — including survey design, data analysis, calibration, validation, and forecasting.
- Conduct economic appraisals and business case analysis for transport infrastructure projects.
- Ensure compliance with UK Department for Transport (DfT) TAG guidance and best practices.
- Perform model checking and quality assurance across deliverables.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and multi-disciplinary teams to align project objectives.
- Contribute to business development, including bid preparation and technical proposals.
- Support and mentor junior modellers and analysts in the GDS transport team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a numerate or transport-related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience using SATURN modelling software.
- Strong understanding of UK DfT TAG guidance and implementation experience.
- Hands-on experience with DIADEM, TUBA, WITA, or similar UK DfT modelling tools.
- Strong survey design and data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of variable demand modelling and forecasting techniques.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
Desirable (Preferred) Skills
- Proficiency in GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Experience with VISUM, CUBE, or EMME.
- Familiarity with microsimulation tools like VISSIM, PARAMICS, or AIMSUN.
- Coding, scripting, or database management skills (Python, VBA, SQL).
- Prior experience in UK or international project delivery environments.
